Tuesday is September Agile Beer Night

Do you do Agile Software Development? Do you want to? Do you want to find out how to do it better? Do you just like to talk about Agile? Do you just like BEER? If you said YES to any of these questions... you need to be at Agile Beer Night!

So Please join us at the Celtic Bayou at 5 or so Tuesday September 30 for some beer and great conversation about Agile Software Development!

Parking can be a bear there, depending on how many people show up... You can take the ST545 bus and get off at the West Lake Sammamish stop, it's right across the street from the pub. Couldn't be more convenient! It goes all the way from Seattle out to the Bear Creek P&R, and it runs both directions early until late.

Looking for Speakers/Topics

If anyone has any suggestions for a topic of conversation, or a speaker that might be willing to present something on Agile for about 15-20 minutes, please respond and let us know! There aren't projection facilities but someone could just get a round-table discussion going, or say a few words about a particular topic.

September Agile Beer Night

P.P.S. For those of you who are in Seattle, there is a direct bus, the Sound Transit 545 that runs very frequently all evening, and has a stop in Redmond literally across the street from the pub. That makes it really easy and no driving and parking! Plus then you can have an extra pint! Bonus!

Agile Beer Night - Location Confirmed

We're on for the Owl and Thistle two weeks from today, Thursday August 21 from around 5PM to 7PM (or however long you want to stay).

Come on down for a brief presentation and discussion of Automated Acceptance Testing using 4 tools:
  • Selenium
  • WatiN
  • Fitnesse
  • Story Test IQ (STIQ)
Sample code will also be made available on this web site.

Become a Certified Agile Developer!

The UW Extension for Professional Development and Continuing Education now has a Certificate Program in Agile Development. It's being taught by some guys I used to work with first-hand, so I happen to know they are all pretty good at Agile Development. They are certainly highly qualified, and this certification course is a good opportunity for those folks who may not be as familiar with Agile principles to get some good instruction on how to do it well. Be sure to apply now, as this course is likely to fill fast.

Agile Beer Night

We the practitioners of Agile and users of Beer, hereby proclaim Agile Beer Night.

The Agile Beer Users Group (Seattle Chapter) will be meeting on Thursday Aug 21, for information sharing, networking, agile discussions, a brief topic presentation on Automated Acceptance Testing, oh - and BEER. Come meet us for a discussion and brief presentation on Agile practices each month.

There is good food, good beer, and a good chance to meet some of the folks who do agile development in the Pacific Northwest, get to know their tricks, and share in their success. The Owl has a fine selection of food, drinks, and spirits for those who choose them.

ABN next meeting will be held in Seattle at the Owl and Thistle Irish Pub and Restaurant at 808 Post Avenue in downtown Seattle from 5PM to 8PM on Thursday August 21 2008.

The September ABN meeting will be on the East side in Redmond or Bellevue, but plans are not firm yet - stay tuned...
